An early spring means more time to stretch out that big spring cleaning project! Not only does a thorough spring clean make the classroom feel fresh and ready for the final push of the school year, it also serves as a great head start on end-of-year clean-up. Make a checklist of tasks, give yourself a reasonable time frame, and get started!
Streamline
The less “stuff” you have, the less there is to clean. You don’t have to go so far as to “KonMari” the classroom, but most of us have a hoard of assorted supplies that we’re hesitant to get rid of. Take the sting out of disposal by finding a good home for your stockpile. Organize a swap with teachers or donate unneeded items to a church or charity.
Involve the Kids
Most kids love getting to help out around the classroom. It gives them a sense of responsibility and shows that you trust them to get the job done. With a little coordination, student helpers can actually provide a lot of assistance. Split kids into teams and assign tasks as appropriate. Even younger elementary kids can wipe down desks, throw away trash, and carry supplies to designated boxes.
Use Safe Cleaning Products
With all the toxins found in practically everything these days – from BPA in plastic containers to phthalates in backpacks – it’s refreshing to find non-toxic cleaning products. CleanSmart™ cleaning products are perfect for the classroom because they’re made with electrolyzed salt water. You can get hospital-grade cleaning and sanitizing results without exposing kids to toxins. Learn more about the line here.
Even if you only have a few extra minutes each day to work on your cleaning project, you’ll see a big difference within a week.
