Flexible furniture can make an excellent addition to any classroom space. Flexible seating options can provide additional versatility and comfort if your students work collaboratively or just need a break from standard desk seating. Many types of flexible seating exist, so sit back and relax (get it?) while we introduce some great ideas to start exploring your options.
Choosing the Right Flexible Furniture for Your Classroom
Not every classroom has the space or need for specific types of flexible furniture. Choosing the right fit for your space and your students is important. There are three groupings of flexible furniture options to consider.
Soft Seating
Soft seating should be cozy and comfortable. It makes a great option for collaboration areas, classroom libraries, and other multiuse learning spaces. It’s also a common addition to sensory rooms.
Active Seating
Active seating can be a good fit for students who want to move while they focus. This can serve as a substitute for a standard desk chair for fidgety students.
Mobile Seating
Some soft and active seating options are mobile, but truly mobile and flexible furniture can be easily moved around and used all over the classroom. These options are light for easy transport.
