There’s only a week left until school starts and it seems as if you’ll never get everything done. Here’s a helpful list to make sure you’ve crossed everything off your list, as well as some suggestions of tools or materials you can use to get them done.
Five days out: Get your tech in order
You don’t want to wait until the last minute to make sure all of your tech is in working order for the first day of school. That means the devices in your classroom as well as the devices that travel with you from home to school and back. Make sure your email is set up correctly and that you’ve downloaded all of the apps you’ll need. Test important procedures like entering grades or giving a presentation. You want to leave yourself enough time to investigate any issues that might come up.
Helpful product: A messenger bag can keep your tech, supplies, and papers all safe and organized during your travels.
Four days out: Print/copy all materials
The first day of school comes with a lot of papers that need to be handed out to kids. Get an early start printing and copying these materials. That way you have plenty of time if the line is incredibly long or the copier breaks down.
Helpful product: A Rubik’s Cube can help the line seem like it’s moving faster.
Three days out: Bring your kids in
You don’t have much time left to spend with your kids before you inherit 30-150 more. Even the smallest kids can come help you set up your room and organize supplies.
Helpful product: Every kid loves stickers for a job well done.
Two days out: Get your affairs in order
One of the great benefits of summer is that you can be available when places like banks and offices are open. Use this day to get the things done that you won’t be able to once school starts.
Helpful product: A calendar to keep any follow-up appointments straight.
Last day of summer: Reflect and focus
Everyone else will be running around like a puppy on Red Bull. But because you’ve been so organized, you can take this day to reflect on your practice, what you want to accomplish this year, and be thankful for the important job you’ve been given.
Helpful product: This rest mat is good for meditation and nap time.
