We’re inspired to spend the day sailing the tropical seas thanks to 8th grade artist Megan Spencer’s evocative pastel piece! Blue skies and puffy, white clouds drift above a rugged coast line, while the loose sail of a small ship billows gently in what we can only imagine is a warm, luxurious breeze! Megan’s expert use of color and composition communicates not just an image, but an emotion, as well. It’s no wonder her teacher at Pleasantdale Middle School, Dianne Washburn, submitted her piece for our cover.

From second grader Emma Peller’s Watercolor Dog to Infamous Infatuation by Rodrigo X, we’ve featured dozens of amazing student-art pieces, by artists spanning grades 2-12 from classrooms in Alabama all the way to Connecticut.
