5 Clever Fall Classroom Decorating Ideas

With motifs of trees and apples, the fall season lends itself perfectly to fun classroom decorating projects. We’ve rounded up five great ideas that will help you and your students ring in pumpkin season.

5 Ways to Make Your Classroom Feel Cozy this Fall

The fall season brings everyone indoors more often than in the summer, so why not make your classroom space feel festive and cozy for the transitional season? Check out these 5 fun ways to bring the fall season into your learning space, and shop the online store to find thousands of products to make these crafts come to life.

    Paper Lantern Pumpkins

    via: Martha Stewart

Simple paper lanterns in shades of orange can easily become a patch of pretty pumpkins. All you need is some craft tissue paper and chenille pipe cleaners. Twist brown tissue paper into a stem shape and glue to the top of the lantern, leaving room for a string if you’re hanging the pumpkins. Crumple green tissue paper, then cut into leaf shapes to glue around the stem. Finally, twist a brown or green pipe cleaner around a pencil to make a spiral for the “tendrils” of the pumpkin plant. You can hang your pumpkins from the ceiling or pile them up to create a patch.

    Football Jersey Décor

    via: Create 2 Educate

Tap into football season with an easy door or bulletin board project. Using a t-shirt die cut if you have one, or a simple template if you don’t, cut jersey shapes from construction paper. Write kids’ names across the top and their class number in the center. For added fun, use green paper to make a football field background.

    Easy Apple Sun Catchers

    via: Kinder Craze

These beauties only require construction paper, tissue paper and contact paper. Precut the apple frame, stem and leaf from construction paper. Assemble these pieces on the sticky side of a sheet of contact paper. Let students arrange small tissue paper squares inside the apple frame. Top the finished product with another sheet of contact paper, sticky side down, and then cut off the excess contact paper. Tape these lovely creations to the window for a lit-up look that’s truly festive.

    Paper Bag Birds

The beauty of this project is that it can easily be adapted to create either owls or turkeys. You’ll need brown paper bags, construction paper and crafting feathers. Or cut out handprints to use as feathers! To make the owls, cut out pieces for eyes, beaks and feet. For a turkey, use smaller eyes and glue tail feathers on the back. Attach your birds to a bulletin board or door, or let them perch on shelves throughout the classroom.

    Squirrel’s Tree House

This one is perfect for pre-K and kindergarten classrooms. Cut a door flap and tree hole in one side of a tall box, such as a refrigerator box. Cover the outside with brown kraft paper. Add construction paper branches and autumn-colored leaves to the top. Add a comfy pillow and a plush squirrel buddy to make a perfect little retreat as a reward for good behavior.
