Art Lesson Plan: Through the Microscope

Creating art with traditional tools can be challenging for students with special needs. This lesson plan incorporates the use of adapted art tools that are larger, easier to grip, and have adjustable features for students with special needs. Through the Microscope is a lesson plan for students grades 3-12 and incorporates the use of both adapted and traditional art tools.

    Through the Microscope Art Project

Using thin and thick lines that appear to become enlarged as if being viewed through a microscope, students will practice the use of fine motor skills.

Students will work with both analogous and complementary colors. They’ll use markers, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, and construction paper to create their own unique designs. Shapes and circles can be made by tracing objects if students have a difficult time using the compass.
