Deanna Marie Lock has dedicated over two decades of her career and expertise serving the education community both in and out of the classroom as an elementary grade teacher, school administrator, educational sales consultant, and leading subject matter expert. From her years of lesson planning and building a learning community to consulting and collaborating with clients across the U.S. today, Deanna is driven by an intentional, reflective approach to academic solutions and personal/professional growth. She leads with the core belief that student success is directly tied to three key components: the rigor of educational instruction, the relevance of that instruction, and (most importantly) positive teacher-student relationships.
Deanna began the first 18 years of her professional career in public education, first as a teacher in southwest Michigan, followed by 13 years in administration in Virginia as an Elementary Assistant Principal and Principal. In 2014, Deanna used her teaching/administrative foundation to jumpstart a career as an educational sales consultant at School Specialty. Deanna is now the National Manager of Subject Matter Experts, working closely with our professional cross-category Sales Teams in the mission to mindfully educate, consult, and build trusted internal and external customer relationships – with students, educators, and the everyday consumer.
Deanna obtained her MA in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University and a BA in Elementary Education and Teaching from Michigan State University, in conjunction with additional post-graduate coursework at George Washington University and James Madison University. Her core coursework focused on Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, History, Environmental Science, and Math Education. Deanna believes reflective learning is effective learning; she models this philosophy every day by bridging purposeful decisions and necessary connections to help students achieve their potential.
