Frame and Hang Anchor Charts as Classroom Decor

Anchor charts are fun, useful, and can make a great way to color portions of the wall in your classroom. While you can have them all on a large easel and flip to the applicable chart when you need it, why not take advantage of your creative work and hang them around the room as part of the decor? Check out these ideas for getting started including your anchor charts as decor in your classroom.

Ideas for Incorporating Anchor Charts Into Classroom Theme

You spend lots of time thinking of the perfect theme and searching for the right decor for your classroom. Anchor charts are a great way to incorporate the theme of your classroom into your teaching, and they can even serve as fun decor.

Choose a Color Scheme that Fits the Room

Before creating your anchor charts, consider the color scheme or theme you’ve chosen for your classroom. Sure, bright colors are always fun, but incorporating your under the sea or jungle theme into your anchor charts will make the room feel cohesive. Use fun markers and your creativity to make your anchor charts look cute enough to look at all year!

Create “Homes” for the Charts on the Wall

Next, create a few spots around the room where anchor charts can “live.” Measure out the space you need and make a frame with cute borders. Then it’s super simple to hang the anchor charts when you’ve completed them. Be sure to keep them where students can reference them while in the classroom, but also get creative about the size and placement of the charts. Check out some anchor chart homes here.

    Change Charts Throughout the Year

Since you’ve created “homes” for each of your charts, it’s easy to change them out throughout the year. Either post a new anchor chart over the previous one in the same location, or remove the previous one and roll it up to store for next time. It’s easy to keep the anchor charts clean and undamaged when you don’t have to flip through them on the easel, and kids will enjoy having your creative anchor charts on the wall to read and use.
