Summer Fun: Time to Relax, Recharge, and Take a Break!

As the school year wraps up, teachers everywhere are ready for a breather. Summer is your time to unwind, celebrate your hard work, and slowly gear up for another great year in the classroom.

“Summer is your reset button — for rest, reflection, and a touch of planning on your own terms.”

    Rest First: You Deserve It!

Before diving into any prep, give yourself the gift of rest. Sleep in, catch up on your favorite shows, or just enjoy the quiet. Even writing out thoughts or goals using a calming Paper Mate® pen can be a therapeutic way to decompress.

“When you give yourself rest, you give your classroom the best version of you.”

    Reflect and Celebrate

Before memories fade, reflect on the past school year. What brought you joy? What would you tweak next time?

Grab a notepad or whiteboard. EXPO® markers are great for visual brainstorming, especially if you like to mind-map or color-code ideas. You can also use Sharpie® markers to create a “wins” wall or list that reminds you of how far you (and your students) have come.

Treat yourself, too! Whether it’s a coffee date with friends or a solo beach day, reward yourself for your incredible efforts.

    “Small wins deserve big celebration.”

    Summer Prep with Purpose

When you’re ready, ease into some light summer organizing. This doesn’t have to be overwhelming — a few small steps now can save significant stress in the fall.

    • Declutter classroom supplies: Sort bins, refresh your stash, and label everything clearly. Sharpie® markers are perfect for bold, clean labeling that holds up throughout the school year.
    • Tidy up your planning tools: Whether you prefer a digital planner or a paper notebook, Paper Mate® pens make color-coding units or themes a breeze.
    • Update your whiteboard system: Sketch out your first-week flow or class routines using vivid EXPO® markers — it’s an easy visual way to start dreaming up your classroom rhythm.

“A little organizing now can make August feel a whole lot easier.”

Stay Connected — or Unplug Entirely

Summer is a great time to join a local PD session, attend an educator webinar, or just grab lunch with teacher friends. Jot down takeaways with a Paper Mate® pen in your favorite color, or sketch out new lesson ideas when inspiration strikes.

That said, if your body says “unplug,” listen to it. There’s nothing wrong with going off the grid. Keeping a notebook nearby lets you catch ideas when they come, even on vacation.

    Savor the Moments

Before long, it’ll be back-to-school shopping and classroom setup. So soak in every moment of this sweet, well-deserved season. Make that summer bucket list with your favorite Sharpie® colors, doodle on your fridge calendar with EXPO® markers, or create a countdown to your next beach day.

This is your time to fill your cup creatively, emotionally, and mentally. Come fall, your students will benefit from a refreshed and ready teacher.

“A rested teacher is a powerful teacher.”

    Final Thought

Let summer be your season of balance. Take what you need: rest, fun, a little prep, and much joy. When you return, do it with the energy, creativity, and clarity that only a true break can bring.

How do you reset during summer break? Share your favorite rituals or organizing hacks in the comments. We’d love to hear how you make the most of your well-earned time off!
