    4 Creative Mother’s Day Projects

Mother’s Day is a great time for students to get creative by working on projects allowing them to use bright colors and make fun designs. The following are several creative projects students can make for Mother’s Day.

    Pocket Book Card

From a pre-copied paper, children can cut out the shape of a purse. The edges of the purse are then glued onto construction paper so there is an opening in the middle. The purse can be colored and designed in a variety of ways. For an extra touch of color, use colored or glitter glue when creating the pocket books. After the purse is completed the students can fill the purse with special handwritten notes and other items for their mom.

    Flower Coupons

Children will love designing, cutting and pasting beautiful paper flowers. After making the flowers, each child will write a chore on the flower that his or her mother would appreciate being done at home. Flowers can be glued on straws and placed in a variety of vases. For younger children, the flowers can be arranged and glued in various ways on construction paper.

    3-D Family Tree

Using cardboard or construction paper, students can draw a tree with branches. Students will then write the names of each individual in their family and a sentence or two about that person on a leaf. Leaves will be arranged and glued on the family tree. Decorating the tree can be simple for younger children and more elaborate for those in older grades. This is a project that can be tied in with a social studies lesson on family or genealogy.

    Dear Mommy Letters

This project starts out by taking a picture of each child in the class with his or her arms over their head. Cut out the pictures and paste them on a large card made of cardboard or construction paper. Large hearts are then cut and pasted right above each child’s hands on the card. The letters can be pasted into the heart each child appears to be holding on the card.

Whether it’s writing letters, putting together a family tree, designing pocket books or creating flowers, kids will enjoy making projects that include something that’s personalized for their mother. Each of these projects provides students with lots of opportunities to get creative and design something both fun and unique for Mom.
