5 Ways to Get the Most Out of a Study Session

Students can use these tips to better prepare for a study session — saving both time and stress along the way:

Plan Out Allotted Time Until Test/Assignment Due Date

Prioritizing assignments to make the most of available study time starts with using a planner. Important tools, such as planners, are essential for educators and students to prioritize their tasks.  Setting goals, planning homework time, and checking items off a to-do list are just a few reasons why planners are a vital tool for developing study skills.

    Schedule Time For Assignment/Test Prep

Highlight times in the schedule that are important for an assignment or upcoming test. Having this visual in a planner will help students prepare in advance and ensure adequate time is allotted to the tasks.

Organize Necessary Materials – Prep The Work Area

Preparing the study area before starting will help keep productivity flowing. Gather the planner and any necessary reading, notes, pens, and pencils. The less time spent getting up to grab a forgotten item, the better the chance of retaining more information during the study session.

Eat A Snack Before – Water During

Studying or working on a task is difficult with food on the brain. Plan ahead by having a healthy snack before a study session and keep a bottle of water nearby. Hydration and a nutritious snack will help the brain focus and engage in productive studying.

Break Large Assignments Into Smaller, Manageable Bites

Break tasks into smaller chunks to work on over time instead of trying to tackle the entire project in one session. Manageable mini-tasks will help keep stress levels low and help students be more prepared for tests.
