According to studies, integrating the arts with math education equals long-term learning gains and retention — for students of all learning levels.
During the 2018/2019 school year, a pilot study in six Title 1 elementary schools in Los Angeles reported a significant 24 percentage point increase in the number of students who scored proficient after using Learn It By Art® Art Integration Math Kits that target specific math skills. These gains occurred in the most challenging math domains and against the most difficult core standards for students in Grades K through 5.
Based on the positive results of the pilot, the Los Angeles district is now rolling out the Art Integration Math Kits to all 16 of their network elementary schools for the 2019-2020 school year.
Studies have proven that implementing Arts Integration into a math curriculum not only increases math proficiency but also enhances student participation and engagement while minimizing classroom disruption.
