    Second Semester Classroom Décor Refresh

Getting back into the swing of a new semester can feel a little sad when the walls that were once decorated with fun winter crafts are now barren and in need of sprucing up. One of the best ways to get yourself and your students back in the learning spirit is to give your classroom décor a second semester refresh. Start brainstorming for your space with these decorating ideas.

    Ideas for January Classroom Redecoration

If you think the new semester could use a bit of change, your classroom can feel refreshed with just a few small changes. Even if you don’t have time to completely start from scratch, there are a few things you can do to bring the feeling of a fresh start to the second semester.

Get Creative With What You Have

Do you have any décor items from previous years or semesters stored somewhere? Is there a new way to arrange or utilize the décor that you’ve already had up in the room? Using what you have on hand will not only save money but will also save you time. Try a new organizational system or get rid of any clutter. Students will appreciate seeing a refreshed room, even if it just means that things were rearranged.

    Some new things to try:
    • Bulletin Board Storage System
    • Mobile Storage
    • Additional Student Storage Space

    Change Up the Color Scheme

You may have chosen a few key colors to use throughout the classroom at the beginning of the new school year, but changing the color scheme for second semester can be exciting and doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Instead, consider changing out or adding one color to the group. Not only will you have fewer décor items to change, but it will give the room a slightly different feeling without breaking the bank.

    Adding colors is this easy:
    • New Borders
    • Solid Color Rug
    • Lighting Filters

    Incorporate a New Classroom Space

To accompany a change in color or furniture rearrangement, consider adding a new activity center or area to the learning space. Whether this means the addition of seating specifically for independent reading or a small space with tools students can use if they’re experiencing anxiety, a new area in the room is a great way to change things up without completely redecorating.

    Build a study area:
    • Sensory Processing Tools
    • Comfortable Seating
    • Fidgets
