Self-Regulation Tools for Early Childhood Learners

Early Childhood students going through a school day with meltdowns, an inability to sit still during circle time, and chaotic transitions between the playground and class may benefit from what Sensory Tool Bags have to offer. The bags are stocked with solutions for movement, deep touch pressure, fidget and oral motor sensory needs. Because each child has their own unique sensory system, the Sensory Tool Bags allow you to choose the items and quantities your student’s needs. There are three age-group-specific Sensory Tool Bags available, including one specifically made for Early Childhood learners.

For more information about the sensory systems that may be impacted at school, check out:

Sensory Based Intervention Tools for Ages 3 and Up

The Early Childhood version of the Sensory Tool Bag (recommended for ages 3 and up) features a range of touch and movement options, as well as tools to help with quiet and calming. The Bitty Bottom cushion may help to alleviate the wiggles without being disruptive, and the My Safe Space Car can be used to help define spatial boundaries, allowing anxious students to participate successfully during circle time. The Water Play Mat is a sensory play option for very early learners and/or as an introduction/ alternative to those with touch aversion to full sand and water table play. At 3 lbs., the weighted Kordy Giraffe makes a great lap buddy during seated activities or to carry as a heavy work transition tool from outside play back to the classroom.

Oral exploration is an important progression in the development of good oral motor skills for feeding and language skills. But for those children that seem to crave more (or inappropriate) oral input, the tool bag is full of chewies galore! Options like the Soft Chewlery Star, the Vibrating Teether, or the Tactile Tiger Bracelet allow every child to have the right oral tool to help manage sensory preferences. Best of all, they may also help promote a calming response as well.

Customized Sensory Processing Tool Kits for Early Childhood

You can customize with all or some of the tools on the list and in the quantities you need, or add your own items from the full sensory product assortment. Be sure to consider the portable tote bag which makes it a breeze to store and use these sensory tools on the go. For more information on all the Sensory Tool Bags check out the online shop:
