A Season for Smiles: The Joy of Teaching

Coming off of the excitement of the holidays and heading into the second half of the year can be a tough time for teachers to maintain enthusiasm and motivation. This makes it a great time of year to revisit the teaching moments that make us smile and bring us joy. We invite you to join us for a podcast episode that will be sure to remind you of all the moments that make teaching rewarding and fulfilling.

In this episode of The Schoolyard Podcast, host Nancy Chung welcomes two incredible guests, Lauran Woolley and Josh Monroe, both renowned fifth-grade teachers and social media influencers.

Lauran, known as @mrs.woolleyin5th on social media, has been teaching for nine years and is passionate about creating comedic content that highlights the hilarious moments in her classroom. With a master’s degree in reading and literacy, she is also pursuing a second master’s in leadership.

Josh, known as @mrmonroeandnala on social media, has been teaching for 13 years and brings his certified therapy dog, Nala, to school to help students manage their emotions.

Kick back and listen to their conversation as they discuss what brings them joy in the classroom. They cover a variety of anecdotes including hilarious mishaps that turned into incredible teaching moments and heartwarming breakthroughs that made up for challenging moments.

We hope you will find a few minutes to kick back and enjoy this episode and that it reinforces the joy that can be found in this challenging profession.
